Taking a small break [Nov. 6th, 2006|11:56 pm]
So yeah, I've been having some problems with doing more work than I should within the last couple of months and usually I don't let it get to me. Somehow not getting enough sleep and overworking has caused a lot of stress (I don't feel any different but that's what I was told) and I've been told to take a break. I still have to go work on a daily basis but everything else I'm going to have to stay away from for at least half a month. What's this mean? It means I won't be doing anymore freelancing for a while nor working on anything past 8:00pm because I have o get more sleep (I feel like I've being treated like I'm 5). This sucks because I get out of work after 6pm and by the time I get home it's past 7:00pm. But yeah, to make things short, I'm going to be away for a while from the net as well except to check e-mails during my breaks at work. So yeah, for now I'm just going to be away so if anyone wants to let me know anything, please do so by the end of the week.

Adios amigos

P.S. Since I probably won't update TW for about 2 weeks, I'll be taking some guest comics if anyone is interested.

Ihaven't updated in ages. [Sep. 11th, 2006|02:48 pm]
Well, it's been a while but I guess you can say I'm back to getting things to as normal as they're going to get. So what Happened? Well, 3 weeks ago I came home to find that my computer was acting real funny and had programs I had never installed before. I asked my brother if he had installed anything and he told me that he was surfing a website for ring tones and suddenly he was covered with about 20 pop-ups on the screen. I did a quick ad-ware and virus scan to see if anything had gotten into the PC. There so much spy ware that I lost count and 8 viruses. I managed to get rid of all the spy ware and 5 of the viruses. I don't know much about how to manually get rid of them so I just backed up everything of importance in the external drive while on safety mode and had a friend reformat everything. Thinking everything was okay now, I started to re-install my files from the external driver. While installing Photoshop, I went to the little boy’s room only to come back and see that my entire computer had crashed while I was away. Not only that, apparently it took my entire back-up drive with it, (now it makes some clicking sound and won't read properly on the PC. This is where things took a turn for the worse since everything I've done for the last 2 years is backed up in that drive, and losing those files is not an option. I took it all over town to every place I could think of that might be able to at least retrieve my data, but no luck. I spent days driving back and forth trying to see if someone could tell me some good news.

Finally, while at Comp-USA, I was told by another customer that there are people who specialize in retrieving data from damaged drives called "Data Savers". I looked them up and gave them a call; they told me that if they can retrieve the data, it'll cost me between 500-3,000 bucks. I looked up other places that do the same thing during my break at work (since at this time I still don't have a working computer anymore) and they all charge around the same price. I spent about 3 days trying to see what I could do but had no way to come up with the money incase it went over 800. Finally, I decided that I was just going to have to let this one go and admit that I was not going to retrieve that information anymore. Because even though it's real important to me, everything in that drive doesn't go over maybe $400.00 in value. So yeah, I got to start everything from comics and shirt designs, to freelance and graphic projects from scratch. And about the computer, I got rid of the 2001 Compaq Presario and just got a new Hp computer instead. I finally got internet yesterday and have a lot of mail and apparently hate mail to catch up to.

HAPY LATE HOLIDAYS, YEARS & BIRTHDAYS!! [Jan. 10th, 2006|06:17 pm]

Man, I haven’t updated anything in such a long time. The last couple of months haven’t been all that great though and there were a lot of problems that kept popping up one after another. That new job I got isn’t all that great and although it pays the bills I really want to get out of that place. I’ve had some serious artist block going on in my head and I still can’t draw anything that looks decent, especially for the comic. I’ve had complete lack of inspiration and motivation. My car still give me some problems from time to time and I’ve been feeling lonely as hell, (you know, when you realize you need a girl to share things with and such). Some people died, some got hurt and others been constantly being trouble. A lot of stuff happened in less than four months and I guess it was too much too fast cause. But meh, I’m not the kind of person who worries too much cause it’ll kill me sooner. Plus, I know a lot more people that have gone trough or witnessed worse stuff. But yeah, the last months have only been one problem after another.

Now, for the good parts of late 2005… Sisco and I got to hang around all day with Dahveed Kolodny-Nagy and Greg Eagles. Dahveed is the artist for Madbeanz as well as artist for the upcoming Frederator cartoon Teapot. Greg Eagles is a famous voice actor who probably best known for providing the voice of death himself on Billy and Mandy and is the voice of Teapot as well. We got to see how they presented a cartoon to Frederator as well as got to know Greg’s early career as an actor. Dahveed was real cool to let us hang out with them that day even if I almost accidentally ran them over with my car. Also, Meza, Mark, Sisco, Dahveed and I did a presentation at a convention in Anaheim about how to draw manga, it was pretty fun to have people admire your talents and I’ve never seen Mark so happy too. Dahveed and Meza did a presentation on how to create a manga panel, Mark taught the basics of drawing hands and faces, and I did an example on how to color and ink digitally. But since I didn’t have a laptop I ended up having to carry my entire desktop computer that day (never again). We also got to hang out with Austin Ouseke, CEO of Eigomanga during the event they had in Universal Studios on December. He told us about some stuff his company is doing and we went over some legal stuff Sisco and I needed to discuss with him. I think that made us sound like we where only interested in getting cash from the comic but that’s not true. Since we know nothing about the comic business in general, we wanted to make sure were we were going to end up with everything and didn’t want to end up with something similar to what happened to dreamwave. That’s really all that happened during that time, OH!, I almost forgot, I finally got a PS2 and am now finally able to catch-up on all the decent games I missed. Well, I got nothing more to add but if you have any questions feel free to ask and all. I’m sure I missed out on a lot.

THE POWERCREST LOGO AND OTHER STUFF!! [Oct. 2nd, 2005|05:53 pm]
[mood |blahblah]

The final logo for the comic has been sketched, made and vectorized for usage.

Well, I haven't properly updated anything here but I'll let you know what has been going on lately. These last few weeks I've been busy trying to catch up with some comic work for powercrest because I haven't gotten a chance to properly work on it after work. By the time I come back I'm pretty tired and I hate working on stuff when I'm not at 100%. Work had been up and down at the gallery because the boss went from a DVD presentation of the gallery to a regular PowerPoint presentation. I had to spend 2 weeks self-teaching myself adobe encore only to end up not using it afterwards. At least I learned something new right? Well, aside from that I had to go trough some couple of databases to find every piece that is available for sale there and what will and will not go on the website's store. It gets real boring having to go trough each and every single piece (especially when there's over 600 of them) but luckily I finished that last week. Now I just have to put them all into a PowerPoint presentation and make it look nice.

On the other hand, David (who is my smorgasbord boss) offered me his position on a company called "five star something" to do the designs and drawings that he did for their games. I checked them out during the week and it seemed rather fun plus I'll get paid twice as much as what I get now at Kolibri (I get 10 an hour right now). I decided to take the job and shall be starting sometime next week. I'm giving my notice tomorrow and I'm going to find a replacement for me if they want to. I rather be working on the comic cause it's more fun but I have to pay the living bills first before fun. Hopefully next year I can draw fulltime if powercrest gets some popularity and profit (I'm not getting my hopes up but we can always dream).

Well, there's also been some [personal stuff going on too, my car keeps breaking down and I've been having trouble keeping track of all financial stuff because I don't have the time to organize them properly. That and with the fact that I'm trying to keep up with the work and comic schedule plus the back and forth freelance stuff I have to do, I can sum everything up to say that life's being quite a pain but I'm sure it's all gonna pay off later.

One thing I managed to do was that during all my breaks this week, I used the gallery's PC Photoshop to do some random stuff. Don't worry about understanding it, it's an inside joke thing

Well, I'm off now, see you all later
